Abstract

Development in society and the economy in the education system requires equipping young people with new skills and competencies, in particular, the ability to cope with different life situations, critical thinking, problem solving and lifelong learning. In accordance with the requirements of the XXI century, proposed by the "Partnership of 21st Century", there are six key elements of schooling. Students should be able to apply their knowledge and skills through critical thinking, applying their knowledge in new situations, analyzing information, understanding new ideas, communicating, working together, solving problems and making decisions. Skills that motivate students to think critically and solve problems are research skills. Research skills acquired through a series of research activities that help students critically evaluate a problem, create and analyze the data, ideas and hypotheses, form and verify relevant data, and draw effective conclusions. The development of research skills should be in line with the requirements of the 21st century, where the 21st Century Learning Partnership offers training components that include work with knowledge, tools of thinking, digital lifestyles and learning. However, despite the fact that the developed curriculum focuses students on research, students are less motivated to engage in research works and projects.
