Abstract

The real economic crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation of almost all business entities, as a result of which it has become a mass phenomenon. At the same time, knowledge of approaches and criteria for the effectiveness of digital transformation can improve the quality of its implementation. The purpose of the study is to study approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of digital transformation, to determine its nature and essence at the theoretical level, as well as to conduct an econometric analysis of the contribution of digital transformation to achieving company efficiency.

In the course of the study, existing approaches to determining the essence of digital transformation were studied, as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of a company's digital transformation. Based on the results of a regression analysis of a sample of the largest companies of the pre-digital era implementing digital transformation, the formulated hypothesis about the impact of digital transformation on the short-term efficiency of companies (profitability) was refuted, which allowed us to make assumptions about the strategic nature of this tool, the results of which are formed with a time lag.

When writing the article, various research methods were used: deduction and induction in conducting an empirical analysis of the activities of companies implementing digital transformation, analytical methods and regression analysis.

The obtained research results contribute to the development of the theory of evaluating the effectiveness of digital business transformation, crisis management and determine the directions of further theoretical developments.
