Abstract

A special role in the formation and manifestation of soil properties is attributed to water, which is an integral part of them.

Water in the soil plays the role of a solvent and dispersant, participates in the processes of sedimentation and compaction, is an active zone in reactions of ion exchange, coagulation and crystallization, nutrition of plants, etc. d. При етом, the character of the action of the water directly depends on its stability in the ground, т. e. от ее цепления и среднее сободы, which, in turn, determines the quantitative composition of water categories.

Unfortunately, today there is no unequivocal opinion on the quantitative definition and composition of water categories, including on the definition of threshold criteria and characteristics. At the same time, clarifying and bringing these issues into order will greatly facilitate clarification of the mechanism of action of water categories on soils, as well as their role in the processes of regulating soil properties.
