Abstract

The study deals with chemical pollution of the environment, in particular arsenic contamination of soil and water, which is a highly pressing problem for both Georgia and the world. Toxicity of arsenic and its compounds is well known. In the seventies of the last century, their carcinogenic properties were established. Arsenic is a natural component of the earth's crust and is spread in any environment, air, water and soil. This element is present in nature in both organic and inorganic forms, and the latter is very toxic. Nevertheless, arsenic compounds are widely used in various technological processes, agriculture, medicine, etc. In some countries, arsenic is naturally high in groundwater as well.
