Abstract

Heydar Aliyev, who has a high management and organizational talent, paid attention to the development of cotton, tobacco, potato, vegetable, orchard products, fruit and berry, tea and vineyard in order to provide the population of the republic with agricultural and food products and to improve their well-being, both    during the union period and during  the period of independence.

The production-commodity relations are restructured according to the requirements of the market economy, in each of the agricultural areas, including in the vegetable-growing area of the Azerbaijan Republic. One of the most important works is to increase a bulk of these products and expand their sorts in order to meet the population’s requirements for food products, including fresh vegetable products.  A production bulk should be reached 1,2-1,4 million tons for provision  of the population with vegetable crops according to the science calculations throughout  the year.

At present application of innovative technologies is important for growing of the traditional fruit-vegetable sorts. One of the application methods of these technologies is selection of cell and tissue in in-vitro condition of the fruit-vegetable crops. One of the main vegetable products is a tomato plant which is mostly used for its taste quality and nutritional value in many countries, including in our country where these technologies are applied.
