PSYCHOLOGİCAL CHARACTERİSTİCS OF CHİLDREN EXPOSED TO VİOLENCE

Abstract

The family plays an irreplaceable role in a child's development, personality formation, and overall well-being. It is within the family that children are expected to experience love, security, care, and emotional support. Moreover, the family is the primary environment where children learn interpersonal relationships and develop into responsible members of society. The experiences gained during childhood often influence an individual throughout life.

Unfortunately, many children are deprived of such care and are instead exposed to various forms of violence within their own families. Child abuse and violence have become some of the most serious social problems of our time. Children who experience violence often face difficulties in social adaptation and are at increased risk of developing psychological disorders. This article examines the main types of violence against children and explores the psychological characteristics and consequences observed in children who have been subjected to abuse.
