Abstract

This paper analyzes the architectural and urban planning solutions employed in the design of the city of Aktau (known as Shevchenko in 1964–1991) within the desert environment of the Mangystau Peninsula. It examines the influence of limited green infrastructure, intense solar radiation, dust-laden winds, and extreme temperature fluctuations on the planning of residential districts, the pattern of urban development, and the organization of public spaces. The study identifies the role of climatic factors in shaping the city's distinctive architectural identity
