Abstract

The study of the influence of gender stereotypes on speech communication, particularly, standardised perceptions of behaviors and character traits corresponding to the concepts of “masculine” and “feminine”, is extremely important. Furthermore, dynamic changes in sociocultural society, conflict of gender roles, society democratization and relations all have a significant impact on the dynamics of gender stereotypes, which is reflected in the choice of linguistic means of expressing masculinity and femininity. The current study is devoted to a gender stereotypes and conceptual analysis of proverbs and aphorisms with the component “man” and “woman”. The proverbs and author’s aphorisms with the component of meanings “man” and “woman” will be classified according to the following features: proverbs and author’s aphorisms describing, first, physical characteristics of men and women; second, psychological characteristics of men and women; third, status-role characteristics of men and women. Kazakh proverbs reflect the higher position of men in society in comparison with women. However, a significant number of proverbs and authors’ aphorisms show the important role of women in the family, including in society, and qualify her as a regulator of the emotional and psychological climate. Moreover, the analysis and systematization of cultural and national characteristics, which are included in the structure of these images in the language, will be made; changes in male and female stereotypes in the Kazakh language world picture will have been revealed at the present paper
