Abstract

This article deals with the influence of cavitation of petroleum products on pumps and pipelines. Cavitation leads to erosion of the pump impeller, and the pump is damaged. At sudden drop in pressure, a vacuum is formed in the area of the pump impeller. Thereby, the pressure is dropping.  The characteristic equations of occurrence of the phenomenon of cavitation are considered. The cavitation process in the viscous fluid can influence the time of the fluid in the cavitation zone, this is the non-equilibrium of the phase transition process. For oil with low soluble gas content, the influence of the physical properties of oil will be determined by the pressure of saturated oil vapours and the thermodynamic correction
