Abstract

For centuries, the production of food products has acted as the main element of the standard of living of each person and of humanity as a whole. Thus, consumption and nutrition have become the main economic and social category that characterizes the level of development of society and the standard of living of people. As the population began to grow around the world, food shortages were observed, and this problem became more and more global. As a result of the globalization of the system of international relations at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, the problem of food shortage has gone beyond national borders and become internationalized. Taking into account the relevance of the relevant problem and its fate for society, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was established and the mentioned issues constitute the priority direction of the organization's activities.
