Abstract

Although the period in which Mirza Fatali Akhundzade lived was contradictory, he left an indelible mark in the memory of our people with his activities and works. The outstanding writer worked for the education of the people, the increase of their worldview, the placement of the ideas of enlightenment in the national thinking, and the development of the national thinking. Akhundzade can be considered one of the founders of the ideology of enlightenment. He was not only engaged in artistic creativity, but also seriously worked in the direction of improving the alphabet of our language. The alphabet prepared by him attracts attention as it is one of the first steps taken in this field in Azerbaijani science. Mirza Fatali Akhundzade also attracts attention as the author of realistic artistic prose, the first work of the narrative genre in our literature. His activity in the field of dramaturgy laid the foundation for the formation of a new literary genre in our national literature. The article examines the life and creativity of the outstanding artist, and studies the ideas and thoughts put forward by him in his work. The conducted research and analysis and the results allow us to say that Mirza Fatali Akhundzade is remembered as an artist who created his own style not only in the scientific, literary and cultural environment of the 19th century Azerbaijan, but also in the Caucasus as a whole, including in the Eastern literature of the world.
