The use of gamification in ELT to improve learners’ communication skills

This article proposes a study of the use of games in the process of teaching English as a foreign language to improve students' communication skills. Gamification, defined as the use of game design elements, is considered an innovative way of learning. This article describes the main features of creating games, their application in the educational process, the advantages and disadvantages of this approach. The study is based on a review of the relevant literature on the subject and the author's own research. It is noted that the effectiveness of gamification may depend on a number of factors, including the age of students, their previous language learning experience. As a result of this research, the article concludes that games have an important potential to improve students' communication skills when learning English. However, it is emphasized that further research is needed to determine the best way to use reproduction in the curriculum.
