Use of Eichhornia crassipes for oil spill water phytoremediation
Abstract
The study focuses on the utilization of the Eichhornia crassipes in removing petroleum hydrocarbons from contaminated water sources, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of crude oil spills. Eichhornia crassipes oIers a low-cost and sustainable alternative to conventional crude oil remediation methods. This study suggests that integrating water hyacinth into remediation practices could oIer an eco-friendly solution to reduce crude oil pollution in freshwater systems, particularly in developing regions aIected by frequent oil spill incidents (Anita et al., 2018; Omotayo et al., 2019).
