Abstract

The article examines the Oghuz State, one of the medieval states that existed in the territory of Kazakhstan from the late 9th century to the first half of the 10th century. The central theme of the article focuses on the political domination of the Oghuz over Southern and Western Kazakhstan and neighboring regions of Central Asia. The etymology of the term "Oghuz" is analyzed, with its origin possibly stemming from the words "uğuz" or "ögüz" (meaning "ox"), along with related historical accounts. The article also explores the reasons behind the disintegration of the Oghuz and their contribution to the formation of the Kazakh people
