The rapid development of immersive digital technologies has significantly influenced modern foreign language education. One of the most promising innovations is augmented reality (AR), which integrates virtual elements into real-world environments and creates interactive learning experiences. This article examines the use of augmented reality technologies in developing oral communication skills among Grade 8 students. Based on contemporary pedagogical, cognitive, and communicative approaches, the study analyses the educational potential of AR tools for enhancing speaking fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary usage, and communicative confidence. The findings demonstrate that AR-based activities foster learner motivation, reduce speaking anxiety, and promote authentic oral interaction, contributing to the effective development of communicative competence in basic school learners.
