An integral part of every person's life is communication, which is realized through speech and language. Everyone acquires the language system from birth. However, in a child with a medical disability, speech development may be delayed and slowed down as a result of the diagnosis. In the article, we briefly describe the sound level of language, which is an important key not only to successful communication, but also necessary for later learning to read and write. The text explains the difference between phonemic and phonological awareness, briefly describes the specifics of Treacher Collins syndrome and hearing impairment. The article contains a description of special pedagogical support for a child with Treacher Collins syndrome and associated hearing impairment.
