Abstract

Many mistakenly believe that gender identity and sexual orientation are the same concept, but this is not the case. For example, there is an assumption that a transgender person must automatically be homosexual, which is a misconception. Gender and sexuality are distinct categories that are important to differentiate and understand in order to show respect for each person’s identity.
