HEYDAR ALIYEV AND THE AZERBAIJANI LANGUAGE

Abstract

Language is the spiritual face of every nation, the symbol of its national existence.

Language policy occupies a very important place in the large-scale political and ideological activities of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev. National leader Heydar Aliyev's language building policy formed a whole system as part of his national state building policy.                                  

Great leader Heydar Aliyev had unparalleled services in the development of the Azerbaijani language as both a national language and a state language. The great leader treated the Azerbaijani language not only as an ordinary means of communication, but as a national wealth of a nation with an ancient history, rich culture, and a certain social and cultural position in the modern world. Since the 1970s, the Great Leader took care of our mother tongue and spared no effort for the development of the Azerbaijani language. Great love for his mother tongue, deep knowledge of its intricacies, creating strong optimistic mood in people with simple, sincere sentences were the main features of Heydar Aliyev's speeches and speeches.

At the 50th anniversary event of Azerbaijan State University (BSU), Heydar Aliyev spoke not in Russian, but in his native language. With this bold step, the first person of the republic won the great sympathy of our intellectuals and gave them moral support.
