Abstract

This article analyzes the management approaches employed in implementing academic leadership at universities in the United Kingdom and Kazakhstan. It highlights the crucial role of academic leadership in ensuring the quality of higher education amid globalization and competitiveness. The article compares the well-developed educational system of the United Kingdom with the current state of educational reforms in Kazakhstan.

The primary objective of the study is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the management models at higher education institutions in both countries and to propose effective management methods for developing academic leadership in Kazakhstan’s universities. The article utilizes literature review, surveys, and document analysis to examine the impact of management approaches on educational quality, academic freedom, and decision-making processes.

The research findings indicate that the high level of academic freedom and transparency in governance in the United Kingdom contributes to improving the quality of education, while centralized management constraints in Kazakhstan limit the creative potential of faculty members. The article suggests expanding academic freedom, democratizing decision-making processes, and implementing leadership development programs to enhance the quality of higher education in Kazakhstan.

This article will be valuable for researchers and practitioners seeking strategic approaches to improving leadership in the field of higher education.
