Assessing the level of non-native English learners’ language proficiency

Non-native English learners comprise a large and growing subpopulation of students and one of the most essential issues of English language proficiency is assessment. That is why it is important and worthwhile to organize the assessment process of non-native English learners’ language proficiency correctly from the beginning of the study. This article examines the various perspectives on assessing the language proficiency of non-native English speakers. The article gives a thorough examination of the relevant scientific literature on the issue and determines tools that could be helpful to correctly organize the assessing process. Furthermore, the article identifies the benefits of such tools and assessment forms
