Abstract

This article examines the actual problem of organizing independent work of students in higher educational institutions and its impact on personality formation. The subject of the study is the essence of students' independent work and methods of its organization. The study used the analysis of scientific papers from various countries, surveys among students and the study of the practice of teachers. The aspects of the theoretical and practical justification of independent work, its role in the personal development of students, as well as the didactic conditions of its organization are considered. The main conclusions are the definition of independent work of students as an active desire for independent study of the material and the development of creative abilities. As a result of the research, the importance of independent work for students' learning and personal development is emphasized.
