Abstract

Phraseological units, or idioms, are integral components of both Azerbaijani and English languages, encapsulating cultural wisdom, humor, and societal norms. In both Azerbaijani and English, phraseological units are non-literal expressions whose meanings differ significantly from the literal meanings of the individual words. They serve to convey complex ideas succinctly and memorably, often adding a layer of expressiveness and cultural flavor to the language. Understanding the main features of phraseological units in these two languages provides valuable insights into their linguistic structures and cultural contexts.
