Phraseological units, or idioms, are integral components of both Azerbaijani and English languages, encapsulating cultural wisdom, humor, and societal norms. In both Azerbaijani and English, phraseological units are non-literal expressions whose meanings differ significantly from the literal meanings of the individual words. They serve to convey complex ideas succinctly and memorably, often adding a layer of expressiveness and cultural flavor to the language. Understanding the main features of phraseological units in these two languages provides valuable insights into their linguistic structures and cultural contexts. This paper outlines the main features of phraseological units in these two languages, highlighting similarities and differences in their structure, usage, and cultural significance.
