Leveraging Big Data and Advanced Database Technologies to Transform Uganda's Healthcare Supply Chain
Abstract
Big Data and advanced database technologies are revolutionizing healthcare supply chains globally, addressing challenges like inventory management, crisis response, and operational efficiency. In Uganda, persistent issues such as frequent stock-outs, inadequate inventory oversight, and limited system interoperability hinder healthcare delivery. By integrating global best practices with region-specific solutions, this paper explores how Big Data analytics and emerging technologies like blockchain, IoT, and predictive analytics can transform Uganda’s healthcare supply chain. Case studies from Ghana1, India2, and beyond highlight the potential for scalable, sustainable, and equitable solutions. This synthesis demonstrates the importance of tailoring innovative approaches to local contexts while leveraging global insights for universal health supply chain improvements.
