This study investigates the role of language portfolios in fostering intercultural competence among basic stage secondary school students. Intercultural competence is a crucial skill in today's globalized world, as it enables individuals to navigate cultural differences and effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. The research aims to explore how language portfolios contribute to the development of intercultural competence and whether they enhance students' language learning experience. The study followed a mixed methods approach, using both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Participants included basic stage secondary school students from various cultural backgrounds. The results indicated that language portfolios played a significant role in fostering intercultural competence among the students, as they helped them reflect on their cultural identities and engage in meaningful interactions with peers from different cultures. Moreover, the portfolios enhanced the students' language learning experience by providing them with a comprehensive tool to track their progress and showcase their language skills. The findings suggest that language portfolios can be an effective tool for promoting intercultural competence among students, and they hold immense potential for integration into language learning curricula.
