Abstract

This study investigates the use of AI-generated communication scenarios as a practical tool for developing intercultural communicative competence (ICC) among Grade 10 EFL students. As adolescents often struggle with communicating effectively in intercultural contexts, AI-assisted scenarios provide an engaging and interactive platform to practice both language skills and cultural understanding. The findings indicate that these scenarios enhance students’ cultural awareness, communication confidence, and collaborative skills. Many participants reported that interacting with AI interlocutors allowed them to better recognize cultural differences, adapt their communication strategies, and feel more comfortable in intercultural exchanges. Вoth students and teachers expressed positive attitudes toward AI-generated scenarios, acknowledging their value as a supportive and innovative tool for fostering ICC. Overall, this study suggests that AI-assisted communication scenarios can be effectively integrated into secondary English classrooms to promote meaningful intercultural learning, provided that proper guidance and scaffolding are offered
