Abstract

This study examines the use of AI-driven essay grading systems, focusing on tools like EssayGrader AI that assess student writing based on linguistic and structural criteria. While these AI systems provide efficient, objective, and scalable assessments, concerns arise regarding their ability to capture the creative, emotional, and contextual aspects of student work. The research compares AI grading with human evaluation, exploring both the practical applications and the emotional impact on students. Findings indicate that while AI offers benefits in efficiency and consistency, it falls short in understanding the human elements of writing. Future developments could enhance AI’s ability to comprehend these nuances, but caution is needed to avoid over-reliance on technology and potential bias. The study underscores the need for a balance between AI and human input to support effective educational assessment.
