Abstract

The article covers the technical, economic and environmental aspects of loading and hauling processes in the mining industry. The efficiency of these processes, which account for 40–60% of the total operating costs in underground mines, directly determines the competitiveness of the mine.
The article provides a comparative analysis of hydraulic and skid-steer excavators, wheeled and tracked loaders, dump trucks of various capacities and conveyor systems. Modern intelligent control systems, payload monitoring technologies, autonomous (driverless) equipment, GPS-based Fleet Management System (FMS) solutions and predictive maintenance approaches are reviewed in detail. The increasing role of electric and hybrid transport equipment in world mining, requirements for compliance with environmental standards and the concept of "green mining" are also important aspects of the article [1,6,7].
The current technological level of the Azerbaijani mining industry (Dashkasan, Gadabay, Chovdar, Qadir and Karabakh mines) is assessed in comparison with international standards; the influence of local climate, relief and infrastructure features on the choice of equipment is particularly emphasized. The article ultimately concludes that automation, digitalization and energy efficiency form the long-term development vector of the industry [1,3,14].
