STANDARDIZATION OF MEDICINAL PLANT MATERIALS OF HEDYSARUM SEMENOWII REGEL & HERDER
Abstract
In the context of growing demand for herbal medicines, one of the most important tasks is to ensure the safety, effectiveness and reproducibility of their composition. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), standardization of medicinal plant materials is a set of measures aimed at confirming their authenticity, quality and safety.
Modern research shows that the lack of clear standards for medicinal plant materials can lead to variability in their composition, a decrease in therapeutic activity and even potential toxic effects, despite a long history of use in medical practice. Standardization of medicinal plant materials generally includes such stages as assessment of morphological, physicochemical, microbiological and toxicological indicators, which allows minimizing the risks of their use.
