Abstract

The “spelling” pronunciation that occurs when reading is not at all explained by the fact that younger students do not know how to pronounce words correctly: after all, in ordinary speech, children pronounce these and similar words in accordance with the laws of the Azerbaijan phonetic system. Illiterate pronunciation is caused by the influence of the printed or written word and, no less important, is supported by the insufficient formation of the skill of fluent reading of primary school students. Thus, deviations from the phonetic laws of pronunciation disappear as the reading technique improves and its speed increases.
