Economic Impacts of Azerbaijan’s Energy Diplomacy

The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the formation stages, economic essence, and impacts of Azerbaijan’s energy diplomacy on the development of the national economy. Within the study, the role of energy diplomacy as a strategic tool of foreign policy in strengthening the country’s international standing, ensuring energy security, and maintaining macroeconomic stability is investigated. The impact of Azerbaijan’s rich oil and natural gas reserves, the “Contract of the Century”, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, TANAP, and TAP projects on the country’s economic development, attraction of foreign investments, and integration into the international energy market is evaluated on scientific grounds. Based on the macroeconomic indicators of 2026, the article analyzes the impact of energy diplomacy on gross domestic product (GDP) growth, state budget revenues, strategic foreign exchange reserves, foreign trade turnover, investment flows, and employment. Concurrently, the contributions of energy projects to the development of the non-oil sector, industrial diversification, and the reinforcement of economic resilience are demonstrated. The study also evaluates the development prospects of green energy diplomacy, the economic significance of renewable energy potential, international green energy projects, and the opportunities and challenges facing Azerbaijan in the context of the global energy transition. Consequently, it is determined that energy diplomacy is one of the key factors of strategic importance in ensuring Azerbaijan’s long-term economic development, international competitiveness, and national energy security.
