The role of parenting styles in bullying cases

Abstract

Studies on the prevalence of peer bullying generally indicate that bullying ranges between 5% and 15%. In a study conducted by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) with the participation of 100,000 young people in 18 different countries, it was determined that two-thirds of the participants were victims of bullying. Bullying is also a widespread problem in various of countries. In a study conducted on high school students, it was found that 44% of the students were subjected to verbal bullying, 30% to physical bullying, 18% to emotional bullying, and 9% to sexual bullying. In addition, the total rate of children involved in bullying in the roles of bully, victim, and bully/victim was determined to be 23%.
