Abstract

This paper examines the possibility of using dairy industry waste as a component of an additive for concrete mixtures used in the construction of bored piles in Astana. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to improve the technological and operational properties of pile concrete, as well as to identify environmentally friendly methods for recycling by-products of dairy production. Particular attention is paid to the influence of whey on cement hydration processes, workability, slump retention, strength, and concrete durability. An experimental research programme involving different dosages of whey-based additive is proposed. The specific conditions of using the developed concrete mix in the sharply continental climate of Astana are also considered.
