Abstract

The article attempts to give an overview of the research on the phenomenon of “religious fanaticism” from the standpoint of socio-cultural typology, identifying the specifics of functioning, trends of change and features of their manifestation. The features of the philosophical approach to a multi-species phenomenon, which is religious fanaticism in modern society, are considered and analyze ways to prevent it. Emphasis is placed on identifying and reflecting the forms of human social behavior in situations of manifestation of religious fanaticism. The problems and factors of loss of individuality, dominance of a radical religious group, simplification and loss of personal existence are indicated.
