Collaboration of clinical pharmacist and doctor on the example of treatment of a patient with osteochondrosis
Abstract
Arthritis is a chronic disease of the articular apparatus, during which there is primary progressive dystrophy (degeneration) and destruction of bone-cartilage, proliferation of underlying bone tissue, structural changes of the articular surface of the bone before its total destruction, the appearance of osteophytes, secondary inflammation of the synovial membrane, which causes joint deformation. Osteoarthritis is a major source of pain, disability, and socioeconomic cost worldwide. The epidemiology of the disorder is complex and multifaceted, with genetic, biological, and biomechanical components.[1]
The disease begins gradually, at the initial stage the role of the pharmacist in alleviating the pathological process and in the correct implementation of pharmaceutical care is quite high. The disease is clinically manifested in functionally highly loaded joints: hip-femur, knee, tibia-ankle, as well as in the distal interphalangeal joints of the wrist. Patients complain of dull, annoying pain, which is aggravated by movement, and during loading, the intensity of pain increases during the day [2].
