Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) is a severe and often fatal condition characterized by the rapid onset of widespread inflammation in the lungs. It can be triggered by various underlying diseases, including tuberculosis (TB), asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pneumonia breathlessness. This article reviews the pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations, diagnostic challenges, and therapeutic strategies associated with ARDS arising from these conditions. We draw attention to the distinct inflammatory reactions associated with each underlying illness and how these contribute to the course of ARDS. The connection between chronic inflammatory diseases like asthma and COPD and infectious agents like Mycobacterium tuberculosis and pneumonia-causing pathogens is covered in detail. Furthermore, the article explores current and emerging treatments for improving patient outcomes. Understanding signs and symptoms for the identification of disease and pathogenesis of ARDS in the context of TB, asthma, COPD, and pneumonia is crucial for developing targeted interventions and improving survival rates in affected patients.
