Jan Hus`s teachings remain relevant even today. In his regard, it is essential to study and preserve the rich legacy he left behing. The Hussite movement, which emerged in Bohemia in the early 15th century and united various sects that had previously existed there, attracted a wide range of social demands. Initially, hussitism was based on the moderate, burgher – oriented teachings of Jan Hus. These teachings reflected the aspirations of all strata of Czech society to free themselves from German domination and papal authority. However, the movement subsequently split into two factions: the moderate faction – the “Calixtines” (or “Ultraquists”), consisting of burgher – class adherents – and the radical faction, the “Taborites”. By the early 1420s, revolutionary peasant – plebeian ideas regarding the imminent establishment of a divine kingdom on Earth had become dominant within the Taborite faction.
